MORE ABOUT DISC STYLES

Most people want to know more about other people with similar - and different - DISC tendencies.  They want to know what drives them so that their highest point on their graph makes them what we call, "High D's, I's, S's, and C's".  Each style is different because of the reasons they developed the style they did earlier in life.

It is an indisputable business fact that people do business with people they like. Therefore, It makes sense to understand what makes ourselves "tick" and then to find out what other people like you to be around them.  In other words, if you are a talkative "People-Person" or "High I", and you are selling to a "Bottom line Results Person"  or a "High D", you'll have much more success if you are able to relate and create rapport with them from what THEY need - not what YOU need!  This is being PeopleSmart and is a fundamental skill in sales, management, personal relationships, and everyday life.

We have all heard of the Golden Rule - and many people aspire to live by it. The Golden Rule is not a panacea. Think about it: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The Golden Rule implies the basic assumption that other people would like to be treated the way that you would like to be treated.

The alternative to the Golden Rule is much more productive. we call it the Platinum Rule: "Treat others the way they want to be treated." Ah hah! What a difference. The Platinum Rule accommodates the feelings of others. The focus of relationships shifts from "this is what I want, so I'll give everyone the same thing" to "let me first understand what they want and then I'll give it to them."

See if you can guess what basic human needs motivates the four different behavioral styles.  Do you know which style is most like you natural style?  How are you similar or different from the other styles you have to live or work with?
